This policy explains what personal data the Discover Waterland app and website collect, why, and what rights you have. It applies to Discover Waterland, based in the Netherlands (Chamber of Commerce / KvK 98978705).

What we collect

When you create an account we may collect your name, email address, phone number and tourist status (for example, whether you are a local or a visitor). While you use the app we also record your tour progress and, if you buy a tour package, your purchase status.

Location

The app uses your device location while you walk a tour, to show where you are on the map and how far the next stop is. Location is processed on your device to guide you between stops; you can browse tours without granting location access.

How we use your data

Your data is used to run your account, personalise recommendations, and improve the app through anonymised analytics. We do not sell your personal data. It is never shared with third parties except in anonymised form.

Data storage

Account data is stored securely using Google Firebase. Reasonable technical measures are in place to protect it, though no system can guarantee absolute security.

Your rights

You may request access to, or deletion of, your personal data at any time. You can delete your account directly in the app under Settings → Privacy → Delete my account, which removes your account, profile, tour progress and purchases. You may also contact us using the details below.
